Fierce Woman Feature – Sharon Bush

On Thursday, I had the good fortune to attend the annual Chicago Women in Philanthropy Annual Luncheon. And, believe me when I say, what a full room of fierce women! Let’s focus on one such fierce women leader, who was honored at the luncheon – Sharon Bush.

Sharon is the President of the Grand Victoria Foundation and a recognized leader in the field who strongly values the economic and social contributions of the nonprofit sector. Throughout her career, she has worked to ensure that the sector is strong, equitable, sustainable, and highly capable of serving individuals and families throughout the Chicago region. Sharon’s contributions to our city are broad and deep. She is a :

  • Board of Trustee for Roosevelt University, In 2021,
  • Appointee to the Chicago Fed Advisory Council on Small Business, Community and Economic Development, Agriculture and Labor, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of ABFE, a national philanthropic organization that advocates for responsive and transformative investments in Black communities.
  • Chair of the Leadership Advisory Committee of Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Chicago.

All this and she still is able to lead and guide the impactful work of the Grand Victoria Foundation as President, stewarding their $150M endowment with her team as they transform the organization to lead with a racial equity and racial justice lens in all they do. I am not sure how this fierce woman has time to sleep. Congratulations to her for the CWIP’s well-deserved honor.
